Teachers' professional development is increasingly based on structures that ask teachers to analyse their own practices as part of a group. Although these professionalization activities are becoming more common, they are not all alike. Beginning with descriptions of different procedures for group practice analysis, this article distinguishes three types of structure according to their methods and process, their theoretical foundations, and their puroses, showing that, each type of group structure can contribute to teachers' professional development by focusing on a particular aspect of their professionality.
